This is a very interesting blog. It gives me ideas of new things to do.

The silo effect is alive and well in most school districts.

Very useful with many different applications. Security is an issue, but this can be addressed.

The silo effect can occur in a district of any size. Even though I work in a small district, the silo effect is alive a doing well. We struggle with this type of issue between buildings, between the staff and administration, and between the school and community at large. Creating an open blogging forum would provide one method to help close these gaps. Hey Ronnie, what's up!

Interdependent - If any one piece is missing or not firm, it throws off the balance of the others.

Coherence = what. There is a need for great focus in coherence
Culture = how. This includes relationships and agreed-upon process for all stakeholders
Capacity = who. When we share the leadership, we accomplish more.

Charlotte Koger

I appreciate the metaphor of a "jigsaw puzzle" in terms of coherence, culture and capacity. The inter-relationship of these three puzzle pieces is SO important for the "right work" to be done to increase student achievement.

Interesting points raised by Bob regarding term "right" and Yvonne regarding term "coherence". Makes me think about how labeling modules, courses, etc. risks the different meanings that are out there. Yet, we can't leave things un-named. Puts the burden on participants and facilitators to clarify meaning early on in the process.
